Fashion Week OFF: where to enjoy matcha or coffee between shows

Located at 8 avenue Rapp, Le Derby Alma feels naturally at home in the buzz of Fashion Week.
With its Haute Couture-inspired interiors and its location between the Eiffel Tower and avenue Montaigne, the hotel is an elegant base from which to explore Paris.

In the 7th arrondissement: two places to pause just minutes from the hotel

DOM, a light-filled café on rue Saint-Dominique

With warm wood, burgundy tones and golden accents, DOM brings a refined take on 1970s style to its thoughtfully designed interiors. The menu features freshly prepared coffees, classic matcha lattes and creations flavoured with vanilla, pistachio or fruit.

An inviting spot for a morning break or an informal catch-up.

Minuit Express, one last pause before the evening begins

As evening approaches, Minuit Express offers an alternative to traditional coffee shops. Behind a discreet door in the 7th arrondissement, a selection of lattes and matcha drinks awaits in a setting inspired by the great overnight trains.

A railway carriage-style bar, softly lit lounges and secluded alcoves create a distinctive atmosphere, perfect for a late-afternoon pause before heading to dinner or an event.

Two cafés within easy reach of Le Derby Alma

Maurice Sfez Café and Café Nuances both have several locations across Paris. For this selection, we have chosen their cafés in the 8th arrondissement, the closest to Le Derby Alma and convenient stops during a day of appointments on the Right Bank.

Maurice Sfez Café, a contemporary stop on rue Marbeuf

Close to avenue Montaigne, Maurice Sfez Café blends New York influences with Australian coffee shop culture. The coffee is roasted in-house, while the menu also features matcha lattes, iced drinks and a selection of indulgent creations.

The café is particularly well suited to picking up a takeaway before continuing towards avenue Montaigne or the Champs-Élysées.

17 rue Marbeuf, Paris 8th arrondissement → less than a 20-minute walk via the Pont de l’Alma.

Café Nuances, coffee as a creative expression

With its distinctive graphic aesthetic, Café Nuances approaches coffee as an experience of both taste and design. The brand works with speciality coffees from a variety of origins and also offers a selection of matcha drinks.

Its rue de La Trémoille café makes a contemporary stop near avenue Montaigne and avenue George-V.

10 rue de La Trémoille, Paris 8th arrondissement → approximately a 15-minute walk.

Open from 8 am to 7 pm on weekdays and from 9 am to 7 pm at weekends.

Le Marais: an outing dedicated to matcha and speciality coffee

Le Marais is a little further from Le Derby Alma, so it is best to combine appointments and favourite cafés into a single visit.

Generally, allow 25 to 35 minutes by taxi, depending on traffic, and sometimes longer during Fashion Week. The hotel’s concierge can arrange your journey and advise on the best time to leave.

Kura-ge, the art of matcha with meticulous attention to detail

In the southern part of Le Marais, Kura-ge stands out for its exacting approach to Japanese tea. The house works with a range of matcha from Japan, offering flavour profiles that can be mellow, vegetal, rich in umami or intense.

Light wood, joinery inspired by Japanese craftsmanship and minimalist lines create an intimate space designed for taking the time to savour each cup.

Café Kitsuné Vertbois, where fashion meets speciality coffee

On the edge of the Haut-Marais, Café Kitsuné Vertbois extends the lifestyle world of Maison Kitsuné. Speciality coffees, iced matcha and sweet treats, including a chocolate and matcha cookie, are served in a pared-back setting.

Intimate yet full of character, it fits naturally into a day spent exploring the neighbourhood’s showrooms, galleries and boutiques.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Jōhō, a hidden gem on rue des Écouffes

Opened in the heart of Le Marais by two passionate friends, Jōhō cultivates a warm atmosphere inspired by childhood memories. Its interiors, madeleines and homemade treats give the café a distinctive personality, far removed from the standard coffee shop formula.

The drinks menu features selected coffees from Peru and Ethiopia, alongside ceremonial-grade matcha sourced from a small producer in Kagoshima, Japan. The Kumo Matcha Latte and Jōhō Americano are among the house signatures.

A little-known spot to discover while wandering through the historic streets of Le Marais.

14 rue des Écouffes, Paris 4th arrondissement.

Le Derby Alma, your Parisian base and couture-inspired retreat

After appointments, fittings and journeys across Paris, Le Derby Alma becomes a welcome retreat. The atmosphere of its rooms, rich fabrics and fashion photography echoes the spirit of the great Parisian fashion houses.

The concierge team at Le Derby Alma can arrange taxis and plan journeys around traffic conditions. A dry-cleaning service is also available on request to keep outfits looking their best between events.

As the day draws to a close, the bar and its terrace welcome guests into a more intimate setting, Tuesday to Saturday from 3 pm to 11 pm. One final pause before Paris prepares to take to the runway once again.

Discover Le Derby Alma

In Paris, Fashion Week unfolds as much in the places where people meet between appointments as it does at the shows themselves. Hidden coffee shops, speciality coffee counters and matcha houses become favourite meeting points in a particularly busy schedule.
